- Chapter 1: "I'll help." Mrs Murray squatted at Mrs. Whatsit's feet, yanking on one slick boot. When The boot came off, it came off suddenly. Mrs Murray sat down with a thump. Mrs Whitsit tumbling backward with the chaironto the floor sandwich held high in one pld claw.
- 'When I get this feeling, this compulsion, I always do what it tells me. I can't explain where it comes from or how I get it, and it doesn't happen very often. But I obey it. And this afternoon I had a feeling that I must come over to the haunted house. That' all I know kid...Maybe it's because I'm suppose to meet you."
