Although Cronus was terrified of the prophecy he has a child and decides the best thing to do in order to keep the prophecy from coming true is to eat, swallow them...whole. Eventually Rhea gets sick of this cycle and decides to save her last child Zeus. She gives birth in a cave and leaves him there. She tricks Cronus into eating a rock disguised as Zeus and gets away with it. Eventually Zeus grows up and come back. He along with Rhea tricks Cronus into swallowing a herb that makes him throw up his siblings.

The Titans (although not all of them) agreed to help him defeat their father. They gifted the Olympians with special weapons. In the end they won the war and Cronus was defeated.

Zeus was mad (read jealous) and thought that Prometheus made mankind too powerful and that they might threaten the gods so he punished him by binding him to a rock and having a vulture prey on his liver...yikes
