Coach I might not be able to play in the game this weekend.
Well, I have a science test on seasons and I'm really bad at them and if I don't get at least a B+ my grade is going to be too low to play
Dia: 2
When one hemisphere is titled toward the sun the other is titled away, that is why seasons are opposite in each the hemispheres
Days are longer when the hemispheres are titled towards the sun and shorter when they are tilted away from the sun. This is because when earth is tilted towards sunlight hits earth more directly and for a longer period of time and vice versa when its tilted away.
See in this example the southern hemisphere is tilted towards the earth so its summer there and winter in the northern hemisphere

Thank you, coach, now I'm definitely getting an A on this test
Well, that happens because earth is tilted, so in the summer the pole receives continuous sunlight because the pole remains above the Horizen. In the winter the opposite happens, and the poles experience continuous darkness because the sun never rises above the horizen.
