  • The book I chose was the hunger games. The main characters are Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the two tributes chosen from district twelve to be in the hunger games. Katniss is Strong-willed and independent since she has to provide for her sister and mother. Peeta is timid but smart and strong although he is often pushed around by others. The point of view is first person, this makes the story more interesting because you only know what katniss knows.
  • Three Conflicts in the hunger games are Man vs Man (fighting the other tributes), Man vs Nature (surviving in the woods with nothing), and Man vs Society (the capital making adolescents fight to the death).
  • In the story, Katniss Everdeen lives in the dystopian nation Panem. Katniss takes care of her sister and mother by hunting with her best friend Gale. ne day, she is forced to join the hunger games. An event hosted by the capitol where teenagers are chosen at random and have to fight to the death with the other trubutes from each district. along the way, she must learn to survive while being hunted by every other human within miles. she will meet friends, enemies, and if shes careful, she might just win, and make it out alive.
  • Quote: “Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.”-Effie TrinketThis quote sounds cheerful but is actually an omen of death as being sent to the hunger games is a death sentence.
  • Quote: “Some walks you have to take alone.”Katniss EverdeenThis quote talks about how even if you want to work together with other people, sometmes you have to work alone.
  • Quote: "Stupid people are dangerous."Katniss EverdeenThis quote talks about how stupid people with the power to negativly effect people are dangerous because they will be erratic and do things with out thinking and hurt people in the process
  • The theme of this story is that the ability and desire to survive would rightfully come first in any serious situation.
  • Examples of figurative language would be Simile, for example: "Primʼs face is as fresh as a raindrop, as lovely as the primrose for which she was named.” Another example would be Personification, for example: “...I always take a moment to listen carefully for the hum that means the fence is live. Right now, itʼs silent as a stone.” Another example would be hyperbole, for example“...and turn my features into an indifferent mask so that no one could ever read my thoughts.”
