This is where Nick meets Tom. Tom's house is enormous and red. He is extremely wealthy. This is also where we learn how Nick views Tom, which he is quite intimidated by him.

In this scene, Tom's butler murmured something to Tom and he left. Daisy then went after him. Here in this scene we see that Jordan Baker tells Nick that the phone call was Tom's mistress, informing us that he has been cheating with Daisy.
