They impact the plot in chapter 2 when old major passes led by Napoleon and Snowball, and talk about his teachings into Animalism and lead the rebellion. Snowball paints the Seven Commandments, while Napoleon focuses on taking control of the milk. in chapter 3 snowball organizes committees to improve farm life, while Napoleon disregards these efforts, focusing instead on educating the youth by taking the puppies. In chapter 4 in the battle directs the defense, while Napoleon acts in a less visible role. In chapter 5 Napoleon takes absolute power and portrays Snowball as a criminal and making him a scapegoat.
Snowball wants progress while Napoleon uses his dogs to violently exile Snowball.
He uses those dogs to chase Snowball off the farm which than ends all democratic debate and begins his absolute dictatorship.
