- Johnny and Ponyboy arrive at the church and and see that it is on fire. Ponyboy thinks that his cigarette caused the fire and wants to help

- Johnny and Ponyboy run to the church and see a man named Jerry. He says that there are kids trapped in the church and the boys want to help.

- Johnny and Ponyboy run into the church. There is lots of smoke and fire.
- Ponyboy reaches down to help a kid and he bites Ponyboy.
- Ponyboy, leave those kids and get out!

- Oh, no you don't!
- Ahh!
- Ponyboy dives out the window and falls to the ground.
- Ponyboy tries to help Johnny but Dally hits and he falls unconscious.
- Ahhh!
- A flaming piece of timber comes crashing down on Johnny he falls down and breaks his back!
- Ponyboy goes down into a peaceful darkness.

- I have to help the kids!
- Ponyboy, get out!
- I have to help Johnny!

- We have to put out the fire!
