Governing power itself is shared through different levels of society. This system is called federalism. We have the federal government which deals with governing the country as a whole with laws that are in effect for everyone, however the Constitution also gives smaller governments, such as those for states or cities, more power over their respective communities.

The main purpose of our government is to serve the people, which gives it plenty of responsibilities to take on. To prevent a leader or groups of officials in government from abusing their power, our government is separated into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. Each branch has its own purpose and they cooperate to make sure that actions are reasonable and agreed upon.
