  • Yea Jeremy, that's right! This is the muscle that allows us to curl our lips and smile big!
  • Hey Lucy, isn't this the muscle that helps us smile!?
  • Whoa that's pretty cool! Do you know if this is the only muscle we use to smile?
  • Yea, it is pretty interesting! And to answer your question, no the Zygomaticus Major is not the only muscle we use to smile, but it is the most responsible muscle for it!

  • Plank Muscle Group
  • Hey Lucy, I love doing planks! Do you know what muscles we use to do them?
  • Actually Jeremy, I do. And surprisingly it's not that many!
  • Well how many is there? And what do they do?
  • Well there are about 8 muscles in all, and all of those muscles are split into categories. The first category would be the core, then your upper body, and lastly your lower body;
  • Well even though it's not a lot of muscles, they sure do have to work together and do a lot to help us do something that we think is so simple.
  • Your core muscles help stabilize your torso, flex the spine, and help rotate your trunk. All of your upper body muscles help maintain shoulder stability, stabilize the upper back and shoulders, and maintain the plank position. And lastly, the lower body muscles help stabilize the pelvis, keep the position, and overall provide stability.
  • But thanks again for all the info Lucy you really are amazing!

  • The Lower Body Skating Squad: Glutes, Quads, Hamstrings, and Calves
  • Oh Lucy, I know what these muscles do! This is the muscle group in our lower body that we use to roller skate!
  • Right again Jeremy! These guys are pretty cool because we use them to do a lot of things like walking and standing!
  • Wow! That's some pretty neat information to know! But how are they used in roller skating?
  • Well let me tell you! The glutes and calves are used to push off and help you maintain balance and stability. Your quads help you extend your knees and produce power.
  • And finally the Hamstrings, these help bend your knees and control the movement of your skating. And these are what the lower body muscle group does to help us skate!
  • Whoa Lucy, you really do know everything! Thanks for telling me all these facts!
  • Oh it's no problem at all Jeremy! I love spilling all of my knowledge onto people!

  • No problem Jeremy, I hope you learned a lot today!
