  • Birth control is a diary pill that contains hormones to change the way the body works and prevent pregnancy.
  • Her name is Margaret Sanger who was American birth control activists, sex educator, writer and nurse. She was also founder of the birth control movement in America and an international leader in this field. She cared about birth control and she worked to achieve this problem in New York city.

  • At that time, women were not able to decide whether to become pregrant. Also, the technology to contraception was not developed. Matters surrounding family plaining and women's health care had not sopken in the public and these issue didn't consider important. Therefore, many women were burdened with a lot of unwanted pregnancies.

  • She began to spend a lot of time on her mission, partly becase her mother died early of pneumonia and childbirth exhaustion. In 1914, she coined the term birth control and soon providing information and cotraceptives to women. In 1916, she was arrested for opening first birth control clinic, but she continued to work. In 1921, she founded American bitth control league.

  • However, despite many legal victories in 1950s, Sanger was far from satisfied, because the contraceptive options available to women were limited. Since the invention of the diaphragm in Europe in 1842 and the first rubber condom in the US in 1869. The diaphragm was very effective, but it was expensive, difficult to use, and most women were too embarrassed to use it.
  • Sanger wanted a contraceptive that was inexpensive, safe, effective and controlled by women, and in 1951 she worked on this problem with Gregory Pincus, a medical expert on human reproduction. Soon after, she met Catherin McCormick, the sponsor of her research. With help of these two, Sanger was able to prodide the public with a safe and effective method of birth control.
  • Her creation of Magic pill made sit afer for women to make children, and it also led the government to focus on women's health care. Sager fought for more than half a century for women's right to control their own fertility and died a year later, but she died knowing she had won her battle. Her great work has had a positive impact on the world we live in today.
