- Odysseus and his followers learn that Polyphemus has no respect or Xenia for travelers or the gods. The only god he cares about at all is Poseidon his father. Polyphemus thanks Poseidon for bringing him the tasty morsels of food
- Ooh Humans! Yum Yum this will make for a good dinner
- My name is, ah, my name is Nohbdy. Yes that's what it is
- Thank you for the wine. What's your name again?
- Hey great and mighty Polyphemus. We bring you this wine as a gift.

- After drinking a lot of wine, I mean a lot, man that Cyclops knows how to drink. Polyphemus passes out. Odysseus and his men take this opportunity to stab him through the eye. Knowing they couldn't kill him because if they did they would have no escape.

- The theme of the Cyclops's story is pride or hubris. Polyphemus put himself above the gods, and his pride was his ultimate downfall. Refusing to show Odysseus and his men hospitality or Xenia.
