The ancient mariner
Storyboard Tekst
- The mariner falls into a deep sleep. When he wakes, a storm brews, rising up the dead soldier's souls from their bodies.
- The mariner faints and hears two voices talk about killing the albatross and how the boat is moving. They explain that the ocean is as submissive as a slave before his master and that it has a bright surface given by the moon’s light. They say that the wind is motionless and the ocean is calm, but somehow the ship drives faster than we could imagine.
- Then, the two voices fly away so that they won’t be late for their place: the afterlife.
- The ship returns steadily to the port. The mariner sees the souls of the dead crew on the ship. A rescue boat arrives with the Pilot, the Pilot’s boy and the Hermit on it.
- The rescue boat arrives with the Pilot, the Pilot’s boy and the Hermit on it.
- When they get back onshore, the mariner is eager to tell his story to the hermit. He feels a desperate obligation to tell his tale. The mariner hopes that the Hermit will be able to absolve him of his sin of killing the albatross.
