- Our story starts at the Galveston hurricane. On September 8, 1900, a Category 4 hurricane ripped through Galveston, the citizens of Galveston didn't believe Cuba when they told Texas that a huge hurricane was coming. This was known as the Great Storm, killing an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 people. A 15 foot wave hit a city that was ONLY 8 feet above sea level. After the whole catastrophe the city was manually lifted the city 17 feet. They also made a 17 feet high wall that was 3 miles long.
- Oh No!! World War I! Also known as the Great War, began in 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. His murder catapulted into a war across Europe that lasted until 1918.
- The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, lasting from 1929 to 1939. It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors.
- The dust bowl was a drought that struck the southern plains in the 1930's . Enormous amounts of dust would suffocate people and cattle such as cows. The dust bowl happened due to over farming. Huge amounts of dust would fly into houses and were almost impossible to get out.
- World War II was a conflict between 1939 and 1945. It started when Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany, marking the beginning of World War II. During this time Hitler killed over 6 million jews and 50 million people.
- On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated as he rode in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas. He was the youngest president and the youngest president to die. He was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald who was assassinated by Jack Leon Ruby who was part of the Mafia
