- What is doping?
- Doping is the use of performance-enhancing drugs by athletic competitors and sports teams as a way of cheating and winning trophies and championships in sports. This issue is known globally since many athletes and teams have used doping and they were caught on their act and were banned from playing sports in international events.
- What is the importance of issues in sports?
- The importance of knowing about doping in sports is that it can let the global community learn why we should never cheat using third-party drugs in international events and what the consequences are if we were ever to try that. to our career and physically and mentally.
- Globally, people should know about doping since it reflects on how it breaks the fundamental values of sports, such as health, fairness, commitment, integrity, and equal opportunities. Doping is deceptive and harmful to athletes, in addition to misleading fans and spectators, organizers and sponsors in their belief that they are watching a fair sporting game.
- Lastly, what are some examples of issues in sports?
- There are various examples of doping incidents in sports such as Lance Armstrong, who was a Tour De France 7x champion who had his championships stripped since he was found guilty of doping his blood and using human growth hormones to boost his speed and muscle strength.
- There is another example which happened during the 1998 Olympics. Canadian Ben Johnson's victory in the 100 m at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He subsequently failed the drug test when stanozolol was found in his urine. He later admitted to using the steroid as well as Dianabol, testosterone, Furazabol, and human growth hormone amongst other things. Johnson was stripped of his gold medal as well as his world-record performance
