This is what we call racial profiling. This is a major issue in the United States at the time and across the world. This causes people to feel unsafe with the police. Some prime examples of this are Amadou Diallo in 1999, who was shot 41 times when the NYPD mistook his wallet for a gun; he was a West African immigrant. Eric Garner in 2014 was choked out by the NYPD.

This has become a major issue in recent US politics, and the laws are struggling to keep up with it. Many people are falsely accused of crimes they did not commit because of the color of their skin, not the content of their character.

There are court cases and amendments which revolve around this topic. The 4th amendement covers this protects people from unreasonable searches by the police and protects people from anything that would be considered unreasonable as well as the 8th amendment which protects people from unreasonable punishment which could be police brutality. The 14th amendment as well because it protects people against the law and protects their rights against law enforcement. Graham v. Connor (1989) was a case in which a man named Dethorne Graham went into a convenience store to buy juice because he was diabetic but the store was extremely busy so he left rapidly and a police officer named M.S. Connor chased him pulled his car over and when he passed out they brutally beat him and he suffered many injuries and he sued successfully and now there are more laws against brutality
