  • We've done well to make such a great country!
  • On the outside, it may seem like a regular country. On the inside is where it is communist. This doesn't mean citizens don't have rights. They do, including freedom of speech and assembly, but they are extremely restricted.
  • And under a communist government as well.
  • Citizens at least 18 years old can vote for things like regional people's congress. However, they cannot run as candidates. At the National People's Congress, we approve decisions made by the communist party.
  • When you hear communism, you may think of something like this...
  • But it's actually something like this. We're about to get into what makes China's government communist.
  • The National People's Congress elects a president. The president then selects a premier, or the chief executive of the government.
