  • Nanak was born a HIndu. When he was born he didn't cry, he smiled. 
  • Nanak wasn't at school for very long. He would rather think about God rather than reading a book. He was a very inquisitive child.
  • Nanak's father wanted him to work for the family business and gave him money to buy goods they could sell. Nanak spent that money on feeding 20 poor holy men. Nanak's father wasn't happy with him.
  • One day Nanak disappeared while bathing at the river. His family thought that he had drowned. After 3 days he returned and said that he had been with God.
  • Nanak where are you?
  • After Nanak's religious encounter, he travelled around the world for 20 years teaching people. People following his teachings were known as Sikhs.
  • Nanak chose one of his followers Lehna to be his successor. Guru Nanak named Lehna Nanak, Angad, which means myself. Guru Nanak died in 1539.
