- This shows jealously because Mrs. Putnam is jealous of Rebecca Nurse because Rebecca has so many children and grandchildren where Mrs. Putnam has had a lot of children die.
- Lies and Deceit

- The represents reputation because Betty is sick and that should be Parris's main concern but it's not he is more concerned about his reputation among the town of Salem.

- This represents a lie that Abigail makes about Elizabeth proctor saying she is bitter in reality she actually got fired because she slept with John proctor.
- This represents redemption because John confesses to witchcraft to try and stop the madness and ends up tearing the confession to undermine Salems court and preserve his name and reputation.
