- The Union won the Civil war 2 years later and the emancipation Proclamation allowed 200 thousand African Americans Soldiers to fight for the Union and gain freedom. They also got some liberty despite the issue being a bit limited. Although it did not officially end slavery, it helped end it.
- The War efforts
- After Lincoln won, the South did not like that and the 7 southern states - South Carolina, MIssissipi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and texas decided to secede and create the Confederate States of America.
- The 1st LA native regiment which was a group of African Americans Enlisted to help the Union and prove themselves.
- African Americans played a big role for the Union as spies. Furthermore, African women served as nurses and helped a lot with war effort.
