One of the main themes in "Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling is Mankind is its worst enemy. For example in act one Les Goodman does not come out when the metior flew above. This shows that Les Goodman was not paying attenction at the moment. Overall people think his an alien. Futhermore when they go a little while later everyones outside talking.They want Charlie and Steve to go in town to go top the police station. As they try and start the car up it doesnt work. Overtime this shows that they thinks its just a regular power outedgebut that doesnt mean it wil affect the cars. After they go in and knock on Les Goodmans door. He comes out steps away from his car and it starts up. People of Maple Street think hes an alien. He goes back to his house and calls them sick people for thinking hes an alien. A little while after they come to conclusion on how it was the kid since he always reads comics about stuff like this. Also Steve was under pressead to say nything.Futher more to conclued the man theme is mankind is its own wrost enemy.
