  • In the year 1700 BCE, a man named Abraham lived in Ur, Mesopotamia. At some point, according to the Torah, the Hebrew Bible, Abraham made a covenant with god. This agreement stated that Canaan would belong to Abraham's descendants.
  • In honor of the 10th plague, Jews celebrate Passover day. During this event, much like they did back then, you would sacrifice a lamb and paint it's blood on your door. In addition, a meal is also eaten, each food symbolizing the story of how the Jews felt.
  • The Patriarchs, the forefathers of Jewish people, consisted of Abraham, his son Isaac, his son Jacob, also known as Israel. Israel's people went by the title of an"Israelite." They later moved away from the promised land of Canaan to Egypt due to the city's wealth in grain. However, the circumstance of a different populated Monotheistic religion moving into the territory of the all mighty Pharaoh, the Pharaoh made all Israelites Egypt's slaves.

  • TEN COMMANDMENTS
  • During this brutal time, an Israelite baby by the name of Moses was cast into the Nile River. By a miracle, the Pharaoh's daughter had seen this poor baby, and pitiful guilt had reached, as the daughter had adopted Moses. As he got older, god instructed Moses to do whatever he could to free his people.
  • Our harsh days are over! I'm very relieved.
  • Conceivably, the Pharaoh refused to this plead. In punishment, each time the Pharaoh would decline this plea, god would emit a plague. When the 10th plague stuck, the first born son of a family within Egypt, would perish. The Israelites avoided this, sacrificing a lamb and painting the blood on their doors. As a result of this, the Pharaoh set the Israelites free, however shortly after changing his mind chasing the Israelites back. But with god on their side, the water of the red sea parted, letting the Israelites pass, and drowning the Egyptians.

  • The Israelites took their goal to return to Canaan, the promised land. On the journey back, god gifted the 10 Commandments that secured their ethical laws. These commandments became a historical treasure to many people, even those who were not Jew. Tragically, Moses passed before returning to Canaan, so Joshua, Moses's deputy, led the Israelites through the remainder of the journey.
  • The Israelites, under the leadership of Joshua, arrived in Canaan. They conquered many of the establishments within Canaan, such as Jericho. After the dust settled, Jacob's people settled in other areas, staying loyal nonetheless. Finally, after the hard work of many, the admirable story of Exodus was settled.
