The Trail of Tears was probably the safest thing that has happened in this unit. Jackson was determined for this land and would not let anything get in his way. 1/4 of 18,000 Cherokee died on the journey, due to either disease or harsh weather. Traveling on foot and some in horse drawn carriage over 800 miles all the way to Oklahoma, where they were promised good supplies, that sadly never showed up.

Georgia
The Worcester V. Georgia case was crucial to the Indian Removal Act. After Gold was found on Natives land they ignored their rights and forced them to move, but the natives refused and the Georgia Militia started to attack Cherokee towns. The Cherokee sued Georgia. Even though the supreme court ruled that the Natives had the right to their land, President Jackson ignored that and forced the Cherokee out anyway.

The Indian Removal act is a sad part of our history. President Jackson wanted more land and resources, but the land they wanted had natives living there. Under pressure from Jackson Congress passed the Indian removal act, which let them make treaties with the natives but not make them leave. Jackson always did the opposite of what he is told, so he went ahead and made them move anyways.
