Gazzels of the Madigascar Savannah are living their fullest life as they thrive in this environment. From day to day, they eat the vegetables that grow around this area. Some of these plants include the grasses, flowers, bushes, and leaves that fall from trees. They are hunted by the tops of the food chain, including lions and cheetahs.
4: Competition & Natural Selection
The genetic variation within the gazzel population varies based on the color of their fur. These gazzels either have, white fur, dark brown fur, or a dirt-colored fur. The different genes are passed down to their offspring, creating a more diverse population.
5: Adaptation
Towards the spring, the gazzel population increases to a high number, as mating season brings lots of offspring. Because of this, the population now has to compete with eachother for resources. Including food, water, and shelter.
Evolution Has Occured
Athough the gazzel population is growing, that does not mean that the predators will not stop hunting these animals. Because of the variation of colors among the gazzels, some will be easier to spot for the lions and cheetahs to hunt.
The gazzels with the lighter coat will die off, as they are  easier to see for the predators.  The gazzels with the coat color of the gound will survive and produce more offspring. The population will contain more gazzels with dirt-colored fur, which will help them survive.
The gazzel population results in the majority fur color being dirt-colored brown, which also becomes the dominant color. This also allows for more plant life to grow because the populations of predators and prey have evened out. This is the result in a case of evolution.
