Hi! I was really excited to join an Anthropology class because over the past few years I’ve unlocked a deep appreciation and love for the social study aspects of my STEM
I don’t have much background on the topic of anthropology besides the research I put into majoring in Medical Anthropology and watching the show Bones. The main character is a forensic anthropologist.
I know there are different field of anthropology (cultural, biological, forensic, medical, environmental), but I didn’t know much of the details before this module.

I learned that a major component of anthropology is that it is defined from the perspective that it is analyzed through. The five main components of this perspective are characterized by are: relativistic, empirialistic, adaptational, comparative, and holistic.
This lesson taught me that within the four main categories of anthropology (archeological, biological, linguistic, and cultural), there are also subtypes within each one that delve into even more specific topics.

My perception of anthropology has changed since watching these videos and completing these lessons. I learned that there is a lot more layers than I thought and I realize how important our perspectives and backgrounds are in the world and when learning about these topics.
