Chett VanGennip Fever 1793

Fever 1793 is a book about Mattie, who survived the yellow fever epidemic in 1793. My favorite scene was when Mattie cut the robber who broke into the coffee house. Mattie and grandfather returned from Bush Hill and found the coffee house was robbed. They are trying to survive on food from the garden. Mattie tried very hard to clean and made a bed in front of the coffee house. The robbers broke in through the window. She hid, but the robber was swinging grandfather's sword and almost hit Maddie. She screamed and ran away. They caught her, but the screen broke up. He tried to shoot the robber, but the gun showed him. The rubber left and beat up Grandfather. Maddie cut the robber on the shoulder with the sword and chased him away, screaming at him. When she got back to the coffee house, her grandfather was dying. This scene is important because it shows Mighty being brave and willing to hurt somebody. Maddie is all alone.
