- ClimaxMathild and her husband arive home and as Mathild is getting undressed she sees that the necklace is missing.
- I'm sure its around here somewhere I will go back out and look for it
- Oh no the necklace is gone. I'm sure I had it on I cant belive I lost it.
- All because of that necklace I'm sitting here being and maid to make extra money.
- Falling ActionMathilde and her husband are tried and poor the life they once lived was now gone. they had to replace the necklace she lost all those years ago and ten years later they just paid it off.
- I'm sure it will get better, don't worry.
- ResolutionMathilde runs into her old friend Mme. Forest and tells her the truth about how she lost the necklace all those years ago. Mme. Forest tells Mathilde that the necklace she had replaced cost less than five hundred francs.
- That necklace you gave me 10 years ago ruined my life. I had lost it and me and my husband spent 10 years paying it off.
- Oh poor Mathilde, that necklace was fake it was only worth about five hundred francs.
