- A CBD or known as the Central Business District is a centered place within a region that encompasses a thriving economic and political society. The CBD is generally densely populated and features a lot of commercial and social sites for people within the metropolitan area.

- Edge cities are commercial centered areas who are major business areas surrounding the nodal CBD. These edge cities are connected by a belt way and are successful in attracting people who live in the suburbs.

- A greenbelt is a recognized section of a city that has been sectioned solely to improve quality of life for its citizens and to sustain the environment. This limits the detriments of urban sprawl and additionally reduces the effects of pollution.
