First Truck
Ari starts his first day at Austin High School. He gets questioned about his injuries by a few friends, but doesn't reveal what happened. He does not like being social with others, so when it was his turn in the icebreaker he did not enjoy it.
Secret Envelope
While Dante is in California for a year he writes Ari letters weekly. Dante becomes very open in his letters and would share lots of details into his life. Ari would sometimes write back, but when he did it was only a few sentences. Ari did not feel comfortable with some of the topics Dante would bring up.
First Kiss
For Ari's birthday, his parents get him a cherry red 1957 Chevy pickup truck. It is the truck he has always wanted.
Coming Out
I like boys
Over Christmas break, Ari was wrapping gifts when he ended up looking in a junk drawer that had a secret envelope in it. The envelope was titled Bernardo, who is his brother in jail. He often misses his brother and wants to know more about him, but his parents don't like talking about him. He doesn't open the letter and puts it back.

On New Year's Eve Ari gets invited to a party by his friends Gina and Susie. When he gets to the party his crush Ileana was there. He had his first kiss with her.
In a letter Dante sends to Ari, Dante confesses that he likes boys. He is scared to tell his parents, and is worried they won't accept him for being gay.
