Fever 1793 is a book about a girl named Mattie and what she went through during the yellow fever in the 1700s. My favorite scene from Fever 1793 was when George Washington came back to Philadelphia and brought a bunch of people with him. Before this, Mattie and Eliza just reopened the coffee shop and the business was going great. Nathaniel was testing to make sure the soups tasted good Mattie had an idea to give out free samples. Nathaniel has to go to the Peale’s to work, but moments later Nathaniele burst through the door and yelled to everyone that George Washinton had returned. People were fighting to get through the door to see the president. There were people lined up on the streets cheering him on. Also, the president was waving on his horse. This scene is important to the story because then people knew the fever was gone. Washington wouldn’t have come back unless the fevers had died and the city would be safe again.
