- I'm 21 and freshly out of college so I just recently got a job as a real estate agent , but no one ever taught me about savings.
- This probably means that a lot of your pay is commision. Because you don't know when you're going to make a sale you need to make sure you budget your set paycheck well enough to make it last. This will help ensure that you have enough money to then put some towards your retirement fund. Do you follow a budget currently?

- The first step to creating a good budget is to keep track of your expenses. Since you are paid monthly you would want to keep track of your monthly expenses such as rent, transportation, gas, food, utilities, internet, your phone, and insurance. Once you know how much money you have going out you want to see if you are making enough to cover these expenses.
- No I don't. I never learned how to keep a budget. What are some of the things I should be including on it? I get paid monthly so how should I set up my budget?
- What happens if I'm not making enough money to cover my expenses? Do I need to get another job?
- You could get another job, but it would probably be a better option to see what expenses you can cut back on.

- What about if I'm making more than enough money to cover my expenses? How do I determine how much of it to save?
- The more you can save the better, because as I said earlier the more you put into your account and the longer it's in there for, the more interest you can earn on that money because it will keep compounding. I would suggest putting 6 months worth of expenses in a savings account for an emergency fund as well as looking into investing some of your money. With the money that's left over from that I would suggest putting into a High Yield Savings Account or a Money Market Account.
