Well I do know that since it's summer for us, it's winter for him; but how does that happen?
It, sure is; but hopefully my cousin isn't too cold though.
This is our Earth. And as you can see, it's tilted on an axis. Which is why we have different climates.

Earth's orbit around the sun is the main cause of the seasons. The sun's rays hit primarily one hemisphere at a time causing the switch between seasons.

But the Earth isn't the only thing changing because of its orbit around something else. The moon does that too.
Each season lasts about 3 months, and there being 4 seasons is the reason we have 12 months in a solar (based on the sun) year.

The moon orbits around the Earth counterclockwise. As it does the shadow cast by the sun gives it the illusion of it disappearing.
We see the Moon wax (or "grow") where the right side is visible; and then we see it wane (or "shrink) where the right side is visible. Charts like this one show how the moon really is: which is a light side facing the sun and a dark side facing us.

Wow, the sunset is beautiful!
Well Kiara, it's because of the fact our Earth revolves around the sun.
