I like working on the school newspaper and I think I want to major in journalism in college.

After attending a summer journalism intensive at Indiana University, I applied to Northwestern University, Ohio University, and the University of Maryland for journalism. Maryland was only on the list to appease my parents and college counselor. I was not admitted to Northwestern. Ohio did not end up being affordable. Fortunately, my parents forced me to attend an admitted student event at Maryland and I ended up loving it. I enrolled with no reservations at UMD where I stuck with journalism and spent four years as a tour guide and member of the marching band.
