- They also had to deal with Native American encounters, which were very dangerous
- Lewis and Clark returned to Washington D.C. in the fall of 1806 to share the experience with Thomas Jefferson.
- This expedition was able to help survey the newly purchased land to give an idea of what the land they had recently purchased was like, to officially give the land to the new country.
