- On a dark and stormy night, Herbert and Mr. White were playing chess. Herbert was playing very sneakily against his father.
- ''The Monkey's Paw''
- That night Mr. Sargent Major came over and showed them a monkey paw. As soon as they saw it they acted scared. The Sargent talked about it all night and in his tone of voice you could tell he was scared of it.
- Rising Action
- That night Mr.White wished for 200 pounds.
- Rising Action
- The next day the boss of Herbert's work came to visit the Whites. He told them that Herbert had died. The boss offered 200 pounds.
- Climax
- That night Mrs. White had an idea. She wished for Herbert to come back. And all of a sudden they started to hear knocking at the door.
- And whoever the knocking came from instantly stopped after Mr. White wished for whatever it was to stop.
- Falling Action
- Every night Mrs. White cried herself to sleep
