A murderer, who was sent by Macbeth, bursts into Macduff's castle and kills Macduff's son. Lady Macduff runs away; however, the murderer caught up and killed her.

Ross hesitantly tells Macduff the news that his wife and children have been murdered, leaving Macduff filled with grief and rage. Now Macduff is going to avenge them by killing Macbeth.
