Polyphemus the cyclops interrogates Odysseus asking for his name in order to reward him with a present because Odysseus treated him with "sweet delicious wine."
"Another! And now tell me your name so I can give you a present as my guest."
"My name is Noman. My family and friends all call me Noman."
"I will eat Noman last; first I will eat the other men. That is my gift to you."
Why did Odysseus tell Cyclops his name is Noman and not his actual name?Maybe he's plotting something that could set him and his men free from the Cyclops

Odysseus and his crew escaped Polyphemus's island because of Odysseus's intelligent act of fooling Polyphemus into informing the Gods that Noman is killing him when he really meant that Odysseus and his crew were killing him.
