- Judges 16: 21-22
- Samson met a woman named Delilah. He later fell in love with the woman and took her to his bedroom. What he didn't know was that Delilah was playing him the whole time. The Philistines were going to pay her silver if she found out the secret of Samson's great strength. Delilah asks Samson three times, and Samson lies to her. Samson then gave in and told her the secret to his great strength.
- Judges 16: 23-26
- Delilah shouted, and Samson woke up. Samson tried to break free of the rope but little did he know that God was not with him. His hair was cut so that meant that his strength was gone and he was as weak as any man. The Philistines had tied him up while he slept.
- Judges 16: 28-30
- “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” “Let me die with the Philistines!”
- The Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding grain in the prison. But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.
- After gouging out Samson's eyes, the Philistines took him to Gaza. The Philistines continued to serve and celebrate their false god when Samson was brought in. They mocked Samson and made him "perform" for them. Samson asked the servant who held his hand to let him lean on the pillars that supported the temple.
- Samson prayed to the Lord asking for his strength back one last time. He put his right hand on a pillar and his left on the other. Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!". Then he pushed with all of his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.
