- Seeing the school for the first time
- Dusty and Monica will go with Sister Mary Louise . You must be Monica a very bright 13 year old girl.
- Monica shivered
- Monica getting her haircut and refusing
- No. My hair has never been cut. Never. I will tie them up. My hair is clean. . . I have no bugs. My hair is a pride.
- Everybody gets hair cut, young lady.
- Sister Mary Louise watching Father Maynards room.
- The girls arrive at school and are amazed at how the school looks. Father Maynard introduces himself. Vivian looked at Monica and whispered under her breath That man is a pig, did you see the way he looked at you.
- Father Maynard calling her LP
- LP come over here
- Sister Mary Louise lead the girls into the teachers room where she told the girls they were getting their hair cut. Monica was crying and refusing because she had promised her mom that she would never cut her braids.

- Father Maynard would bring Monica into his room while Sister Mary Louise kept look outside. At this point in the book the only people who knew were Father Maynard, Monica and Sister Mary Louise and that is why she kept look out. Vivian had a clue that that was happening but didn`t say anything.
- Reading the letter from her dad
- LP stands for little princess and that is the nickname Father Maynard gave little Monica. This name shouldn`t have ever been used. Every time Father Maynard needed something from Monica or wanted her he would call out LP.
- After Vivian got sent away her crew of friends (also considered the mean girls) kept taunting Monica. Calling her LP and telling her that she was reason that Vivian got sent away.
- Monica`s father sent her a letter written in English with the help of someone. When she received the letter she realized that it had already been opened. Her father was apologizing for sending her to school.
