Tekst Storyboardowy

  • Gina's story made me cry of joy. I find it incredible how a child in Gina's condition has explored and knows more of the world then I do.
  • Gina gives us strength!
  • Go Gina! You can do it!
  • Through the text and presentation, I was able to observe Gina's eagerness to learn. She would become excited when she succeeded in performing an action satisfactorily.
  • One thing I found particularly admirable about Gina and her family is that they never gave up. It is evident that Gina was aware of her strengths and capabilities. In addition, Gina seems to have never backed down from a challenge. This attribute is what Gina's mother has instilled in her daughter - strength.
  • Four Ways I can help parents share their voice: 1. Listen to the parents concerns without judgment. In most cases, the parent will always know best. 2. Have scheduled meeting to communicate over child's academic or behavioral progress. Keep parents aware of what goes on in the classroom and vice versa.
  • 3. Brainstorm ideas with the parents or inform parents of how to best modify the classroom for their child. Allow parents to share their child's interests or hobbies. 4. Have parents share information with you about their child's particular diagnosis. In most cases, the parents are the most knowledgeable on their child's disability. As educators we should continuously inform ourselves of the needs of all our students.
  • Parents need to allowed to advocate for their child's needs without being judges because they know best in most cases. As educators we should always listen to the parent's concerns or suggestions before dismissing them as false or uneducated.
  • Most educators, spend one academic year with the student, while the parent/guardians are their longer. Thus, the parent should be encouraged to continuously learn about their child so they can best advocate for them.
