- I hear they are finding a lot of gold in America, Cheng.
- I need that money because my family is broke.

- Cheng left his family and borrowed money from merchants so he could afford a 1$ ticket next to the storage of a postal ship. This was what immigration was like for many Chinese immigrants.
- I hate this steamboat! there is the rich above me in single rooms and I'm stuck down here in filth with no space! And Ill be here for weeks!

- After 3 weeks, Cheng finally made it to Angel Island. The only problem was that the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed, and only select immigrants were let into America.
- I knew that mining job would pay of, I only passed I'm experienced!
- I feel bad for all those people who didn't pass. They have to stay with prisoners and live in camps.

- Cheng Arrived in America and went to California. He went to places to mine but faced problems.
- I hate this, I'm barely getting paid and the working conditions are so bad.

- Cheng left his job and went to China town in San Frisco to find sanctuary.
- This place is great. I can relate to people, people don't discriminate me, the food is from home, and they have temples for my god.

- Years after Cheng settled into China town, he experienced the one of the many San Frisico Riots. He, along with 4 other Chinese residents, were killed during this riot.
- AHHHHHHH!
- Immigration was not easy for Cheng, and it was even worse for many other immigrants. Racism, exclusion acts, and labor were all things that made living hard.
