Phineas Gage was a railroad Forman for a long time, working with other people, equipment and explosives. For his job, Phineas Gage had to place a tamping iron into a hole filled with explosive material when something went wrong. An important element of working on a railroad doing a job as dangerous as this is communication. Phineas was good at communication but this time his workers may have disagreed. When the tamping Iron was in the ground, the material exploded and the iron went flying out the top. Right into phineas Gages head.
Phineas Gage was a Forman, and a good one too. Phineas was physically in shape as well as mentally. Phineas Gage knew his workers and they felt that they knew him to. All of his men knew when he was joking and when he was serious, Phineas knew when his men working hard and who to talk to when they were slacking. This a feature many call being social, an ability Phineas would later lose.
