- That is a pretty good claim, do you have any reasons and evidence?
- Yes, the first reason is: Homework makes schools more effective. The evidence for this one is from "More Than Minutes: Teachers' Roles in Designing Homework", Joyce Epstein and Frances Van Voorhis, and they state "The implication is that if teachers in U.S. public schools assigned more homework, students would learn more and the schools would be more effective." They also say “Yet, the homework process begins with teachers who choose the topics and content of assignments to help students meet particular learning goals.” This means that the more homework assigned, the more students progress in learning, get better scores, and in return, get better jobs. Also, when the teacher chooses a topic for homework that you didn’t have time to study in class, it gives you the information that is useful for you and tests you might take about that topic in the future. Homework not only gives you a great increase in education, but it also increases your grades a lot.

- Yes the second reason is that homework improves your grades. I got my evidence for this from "Should Kids Have Homework? The Great Debate.", Thayer, Kate - Chicago Tribune on Aug 9, 2018, and they say that ""Harris Cooper, professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke University, has studied the correlation between homework and academic success. He said all students should have some homework, but the amount and type of homework should vary depending on age and developmental level." They also said: ""This is not rocket science," he said. "You may have brought home a pre-test for spelling on Thursday before you take a test on Friday, and you did better because you brought the pre-test home." This is saying that the more you do homework, the better you will do in tests and assignments.
- Wow! This sounds good but I have heard that homework doesn't help you learn because it stresses you out which can lead to anxiety and bad grades.
- That sounds like a really good argument but this is only true if they have too much homework. This is solved by teachers giving a balanced amount of homework.
