- He started off small, focusing on the athletes that he noticed were struggling the most with minor injuries. As a newfound entrepreneur, he quickly learned that he would offer the first pill for free, and the second, if they came back for a second, he would start at $5 per pill. Before long, James found that he rather enjoyed the cash flow provided by this second bottle. While washing dishes that night, James noticed mail from a pharmaceutical company noting an appointment with his dad the next day after school.

- James couldn't sleep that night. The pain from his shin splints was not the cause of it; rather, the focus of the pharmaceutical rep kept ringing in his head. The next day at school was long. Sure, James made a few sales throughout the day, but Bob was quite confused when he saw James jogging home after school instead of heading to practice. James wasn’t thinking about track. James was thinking about how he was going to somehow, someway find a way to supply his newfound financial and physical addition.

- It was easier than he could have imagined. James watched the pharmaceutical rep as he opened the sliding door on his van and picked up two boxes to carry into the back door of the pharmacy. James seized the moment and snuck around the van to the open door. It must have been his lucky day, as when he looked in the van, he noticed a box labeled OxyContin 80 mg. James looked around and didn’t see anyone. He quickly slipped in, grabbed the box, and took off running in the opposite direction of the unloading dock. James ran for what seemed like miles before slipping in through the sliding glass doors at his house. He thought to himself, “That was almost easier than stealing candy from a baby.” Once in the security of his locked bedroom, James opened the box and counted 48 bottles of OxyContin 80 mg with 150 pills in each bottle. James knew this had become the game changer that he was looking for.
