  • News was just announced by the ballerinas that Harrison (George and Hazels son) had just escaped prison and was on the lose. It was announced that Harrison is a genius, athletic,and should be considered dangerous because he isn't handicapped. He then announces that he is the new emperor of the world.   • Harrison Bergeron, by Kurt Vonnegut#160; has so much satire and irony in#160; it, and i honestly love it a lot. I feel like he was making subtle and not so subtle hints at many of the things the world still struggles with today, like : our idea of equality, individuality, and personal freedom. In a lot of ways this world is leaning more and more into the ideas that we need#160;more equality. And that although diversity in talent and skill is celebrated,#160;too much of it tends to make people jealous, intimidated or even insecure because they themselves aren't like other people. This short story also makes ironic references toward how much the government is in control of things now. People are constantly in search of security and stability, and often times they go to the government to provide this for them. However, in turn this also generally requires that the government suppresses or even completely#160; diminishes certain freedoms.#160; This short story truly forces the reader to ponder the ideas of modern society and basic human nature, and i think there is a lot that can be learned from it.#160;
