Odysseus stabs the cyclops and the eye and blinds him. By telling the cyclops his name was Nobody, it sounded like the cyclops was saying nobody was hurting him. So the cyclops never came to help him.

Once Odysseus and his men escape the cave, they loaded their ships and started leaving the island. But Odysseus had other plans. Instead of leaving peacefully, he decided to shout out who he really was and where he was from to the cyclops. With this information, the cyclops cried out to his father Poseidon, god of the seas. He cursed him so that he will never return home, but if he does, make sure that his household is in ruins and all his men are dead.
