- One day, he called me in front of everyone and asked me why I disappeared so much. That’s when I told him the truth: that there wasn’t a bathroom for Black women in that building, and that I had to walk almost a kilometer to the only bathroom I was allowed to enter.
- And about that whole bathroom situation… my boss, Mr. Al Harrison, started to find it strange that I always “disappeared” for a few minutes. He even thought I might be passing information to someone else, because every time he needed me, he would go to my desk and I wasn’t there.

- There was also the issue of authorship. In one of the reports, I put my name alongside his, because I had done all the calculations, revisions, and projections. It was fair.When he saw it, he said that “computers didn’t sign reports.” That hurt, because I knew I was contributing just as much as any engineer in that room. But even so, I had to fight for the basics: for the recognition of my own work.
- With Paul, it was even worse. He would exclude me from meetings, even when my reports were being discussed. He would always say that the changes had already been made there and that we would have to start over. I knew that if I were present, I would avoid the rework.

- No futuro, algumas mudanças serão visíveis: a segregação explícita acaba, mulheres ocupam mais espaços antes masculinos, como ciência e política, e surgem políticas públicas, como as cotas, ampliando o acesso à educação. Mas o racismo e o machismo permanecem, de forma mais sutil, ainda negando oportunidades e tentando silenciar vozes.
- Sua história vai se transformar em um filme, utilizado nas escolas para debater a ciência e a luta de mulheres negras contra o preconceito. Sua resistência não foi em vão. Você se tornou memória, referência e inspiração para futuras gerações.
