- After Pony boy, Johnny, Two-Bit, Cherry, and Marcia are walking home they hear the blue mustang coming near. Then the socs come and they are mad at the greasers for talking to Cherry and Marcia. This is when most of the characters get introduced
- Climax
- Right before Darry Ponyboys brother hit him for not being home on time. When they were about to run away a group of socs came and tried to start a fight. Bob was made at them for talking to Cherry and Marcia. Bob came and put pony boys head under water and drowned him. Out of self defense johnny stabbed him killing him
- Falling action
- When Johnny, Pony boys, and dally where in Windrixville the church Pony and Johnny were staying in caught on fire. There were little kids in the church so they all went in to save them. When they were in there the building was falling and crumbling . When Pony jumped out of the window Johnny caught caught in the rubble and ended up breaking his back.
- Resolution
- After the greasers won the rumble Pony and Dally went to the hospital to see johnny, who was on the verge of dyeing. They went into the room and saw that Johnny was all pail and look bad. They talked for a bit and then Johnny asked for Pony when he came over he said 'stay gold" and Dally told Johnny that he is proud of Johnny then he died .
- After Johnny died Dally was very angry and he was so upset that he robbed a grocery store. He called Darry and told him about what he had done, Dally told them to meet him at the lot. When they got there they saw dally and the police were coming. When the police got there they told him to put his hands behind his back. But he told pony that he has a gun without any bullets. He took it out and the police started shooting at him. Then he died,
- At the end of the book Pony-boy has to go to court to see if he can stay with his brothers. When they went to the hearing there was the socs who were there to justify to say it was just self defense. When it was Pony-buys turn to talk the judge asked 'do you like it living with you brother'. Then he said OK and the judge said that all the charges were dropped and that he can stay with his brothers.
