Well its because I feel I am taught the same thing every history class... I wish we could cover more than just the main events
well I looked up events that also happened when the US entered WW1 after class
and I saw that in 1917 Puerto Rican Citizens also became US citizens and that is interesting
That is an interesting thought, what kind of events are you speaking of?
Wow!! That is pretty good you know that..
yeah but I feel everybody should know the minorities history as well!!
I think more diverse history should be present in classrooms, I know it also has to do with curriculum but just a small fact every now and then would be really useful for students and maybe spark the conversation of having a more diverse teaching in your history class.
that does not sound too bad.. I am going to take that into account with my further teachings... thank you Gabriela!!
explain more..
That means a lot sir, being able to hear about my history in class makes me feel more included and I actually get a bit more interested as well!!
Thank you, see you tomorrow!!
no problem Gabriela!!I for sure want to improve my teaching for my students in any way possible
THE NEXT DAY...
Todays fun fact was actually given by a students.. Did you guys know on March 2, 1917, president Wilson signed the Jones-Shafroth Act, which gave Puerto Rican citizens; US citizenship
