- Part 3: Trapped
- Heading for home we were forced to take another route, a different course, as Zeus, I suppose, intended.
- Odysseus and his crew sail and find the island of Cyclops.
- Part 4: Offering The Cyclops Wine
- Here, Cyclops, have some wine to follow your meal of human flesh
- “Give me more, freely, then quickly tell me your name so I may give you a guest gift, one that will please you
- Went into the caves to wait for the crops.
- Part 5: Blinding the cyclops
- They told the Cyclops that on their way home they had to take a different route and ended up in the cave. Their excuse was they got their ship smashed to pieces.But the cyclops killed 2 of the crew members as they waited for the next day.
- Part 6: Escape
- blinded by an evil man and his wicked friends, when my wits were fuddled with wine: Nobody, I say, has not yet escaped death.
- The Cyclopes made a stake to stab his eye, and gave him a drink that makes him sleepy, but he wanted more.
- Odysseus fell asleep because of the wine. Cyclops and his men stabbed him with a burning stake that woke him. His neighbors were concerned.
- “Nobody, my friends, is trying to kill me by violence or treachery.”
- Odysseus freed the sheep out of the cave, feeling the tops of them to make sure no one got out. But Cyclops and his men escaped on the underside of the sheeps, and sailed away.
