- French and Indian War
- Where are the British? They are supposed to help us!
- A few decades before the French and Indian war, when French fur traders started to come to America to trade, the British signed a treaty with the Cherokee that, in return for protection, the Cherokee would not trade with the French. Unfortunately, Cherokee thought this meant that the British and Cherokee were equal, but in the British still thought they were better. Also, British colonizers thought that they could control the Cherokee because of this treaty.

- For the span of 30 years, Cherokee people and British colonizers lived peacefully. Cherokee never traded with the French, and expected to be protected if they ever attacked. These assumptions would quickly change.
- Cherokee War Happens
- When the French attacked the Cherokee, the Cherokee expected their British comrades to come help fight them off. The British, though, were unable to protect them from the French. This heavilly angered the Cherokee, and they wanted revenge.
- Aftermath of the War
- Get out of here and never come back, or we'll kill you!
- The Cherokee, feeling betrayed because the British failed to protect them, decided to steal things from the colonizers. They stole horses from the settlers, and this, obviously, made the settlers mad. This theft was met with fighting, which also led to the start of the Cherokee war.
- When the Cherokee stole from the settlers, the British thought they could capture and control the Cherokee by stopping trade with them, and taking their peace representatives as prisoners. This was the start of the Cherokee war, which lasted 2 years. This war ended with many Cherokee deaths, and the British won the war.
- Ah!!!
- The Cherokee lost a lot of land as a result of losing the war. To add to that, the French and Indian war ended with a treaty that took a lot of land away from the Cerokee, so the Cherokee had to move away. This also created a border between Cherokee land and the South Carolina colony.
